I enjoy the process of understanding and empathizing with the needs, wants, and limitations of end users of a product or design to help create a better experience for that end user. Until my coursework for my MS in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), I didn’t realize that I had already been an user experience practitioner with my pervious work in the industry. I’ve always created my designs with not only the client, but the end user in mind to develop a superior final product.
My HCI PhD dissertation, Understanding the user in online education focused on creating a better experience for the user in online and distance education. My MFA in Graphic Design thesis, Curriculum & course design: preparing graphic design & visual communication students focused on understanding the needs of the graphic design and visual communication industry and applying that back into higher education.
